How to Apply: The “Double Step” Process
Do not just send an email or just a post. You must do both to be considered.
-
Step 1 (Offline): Download the application form from drdo.gov.in. Fill it and attach a ₹10 Indian Postal Order (IPO) drawn in favor of “The Director, IRDE, Dehradun” (SC/ST/OBC are exempt from this fee).
-
Step 2 (Email): Scan the signed form and all your documents (10th mark sheet, Degree, GATE/NET card, Caste certificate) into one single PDF.
-
Step 3 (Submission):
-
Post to: The Director, IRDE, Raipur Road, Dehradun – 248008.
-
Email to:
[email protected]
-
The Deadline: The application must reach within 21 days of publication in Employment News. Based on the April 30th release, the cutoff is May 21, 2026.
Selection Process: Interview Over Exam
-
Screening: A committee will shortlist candidates based on academic merit and GATE/NET scores.
-
Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (likely at the Dehradun campus). No written exam is usually conducted unless the number of applicants is exceptionally high.
Reality Check: The “JRF” Life
The Ground Truth: A JRF position at DRDO is a prestigious “foot in the door.” While it is a contractual fellowship and doesn’t guarantee permanent absorption, the exposure to night-vision tech and laser systems makes you a top candidate for future Scientist-B recruitments (RAC) or high-end private defense firms. Plus, working in Dehradun offers a quality of life and climate that is hard to beat.
