MWCD Internship 2026: Apply by March 10 for a ₹20,000 Paid Opportunity in Delhi

If you are a woman student or social activist from a rural area or a smaller town, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has a unique door open for you. The application window for the May-June 2026 batch is opening soon, and unlike many “unpaid” government roles, this one pays you a ₹20,000 monthly stipend.

Are You Eligible?

Before you spend an hour on the portal, check the Tier-1 exclusion rule. If you currently live in or belong to any of these cities, you are NOT eligible:

  • Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune.

MWCD specifically wants to empower women from Non-Tier 1 cities and rural India. If you are from a smaller district or village, your chances of selection are significantly higher.

Batch Details & Deadlines

Term Application Window Duration
May – June 2026 March 1 – 10, 2026 2 Months
August – September June 1 – 10, 2026 2 Months

Perks: It’s More Than Just a Stipend

  • Stipend: ₹20,000 per month (Lump sum).

  • Travel: Reimbursement for 3-tier AC Train or Deluxe Bus (To and From Delhi).

  • Stay: Hostel accommodation in Delhi on a sharing basis. This is a massive relief given Delhi’s high rent.

  • Work: You won’t just be making coffee; you’ll be working on “Micro-studies” and “Pilot Projects” related to Mission Vatsalya or the JJ Act.

How to Write a Selection-Winning SOP

The selection committee doesn’t conduct a written exam. Your Statement of Purpose (SOP) is your only interview. In my experience, the most successful SOPs for MWCD do three things:

  1. Mention Local Issues: Talk about specific challenges women or children face in your specific home district.

  2. Show Data Interest: Mention you want to learn about “Gender Budgeting” or “Policy Analysis.”

  3. Be Authentic: Don’t use a generic AI template. If you’ve worked as a social activist or teacher, highlight one real-life case you handled.

Quick Steps to Apply

  1. Portal: Go to wcd.intern.nic.in.

  2. Registration: Keep your ID proof, address proof (crucial for Tier-1 check), and highest education certificate ready.

  3. Timing: The link is strictly active between the 1st and 10th of March. Set a calendar alert for March 1st.
