Who Can Apply? — Eligibility Criteria

  • You must be an Indian National
  • Minimum age: 18 years as on 6th June 2026 (max age as per Govt. norms)
  • You must have passed your qualifying exam in 2022 or later — those who passed before 2022 are NOT eligible
  • You must have studied as a regular candidate (not distance/correspondence)
  • You must be registered on NATS (for BE/Diploma/Graduate General candidates) or NAPS (for ITI candidates) portal
  • No previous apprenticeship training under any organisation
  • No job/training experience of 1 year or more after completing your qualifying exam
  • Candidates with higher qualification than required are NOT eligible
  • Result of qualifying exam must be declared/available on the date of interview

 Key Points to Remember

  • This apprenticeship does NOT guarantee a job at GTRE after training
  • No accommodation or travel allowance is provided during selection or training
  • CGPA must be converted to percentage as per your university’s formula
  • Selected candidates must submit a police verification certificate (last 1 year residence + permanent address)
  • A medical fitness certificate from any Govt. Hospital is mandatory
  • Canvassing/influencing in any form will lead to immediate disqualification
  • GTRE may increase/decrease vacancies or cancel the selection process without notice

Documents to Carry for the Walk-in Interview

Bring originals + one set of self-attested photocopies for all of the following:

  • NATS / NAPS profile printout
  • 10th Mark Sheet & Certificate
  • All semester/year mark sheets of qualifying examination
  • Degree / Diploma / ITI Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable — SC/ST/OBC NCL)
  • 2 recent passport-size photographs

Selection Process

Shortlisting will be done based on academic merit, written test, interview — or a combination of these, depending on the number of applicants for each category. Document verification is mandatory before final selection. Results will be published on www.drdo.gov.in, and selected candidates will be informed via email.

Stipend

Stipend will be as per the norms of the Government of India under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Currently, stipends under the act vary by qualification level — typically ranging from around ₹5,000 to ₹9,000+ per month depending on your education category (ITI, Diploma, or Graduate).
